Earl Wooten III Chemical Plant Manager, Philanthropist

Earl Wooten III was born in Crockett, Texas, in 1951 and attended schools in Lovelady, Texas, where he excelled academically while participating in football and track. Growing up on his family’s cattle ranch in East Texas, he developed a lifelong appreciation for resource stewardship, conservation, and the outdoors. He was active in 4-H and FFA and remains an avid sportsman.

Earl earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University in 1973. He went on to build a successful 35-year career in the industrial chemical industry with Occidental Chemical Corporation (OxyChem) and its subsidiaries. Throughout his career, he held leadership positions in chemical manufacturing, safety compliance, and plant operations, ultimately retiring in 2016 as a Plant Manager.

Earl has a long history of community service, having served on the boards of the Cedar Hills Economic Development Corporation, the La Porte and Deer Park Chambers of Commerce, and the Greater Baton Rouge Industrial Alliance. Following his retirement, he continued his commitment to service through charitable work and currently serves on the Board of Directors of The CAUSE Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to United Airlines flight attendants facing unexpected illness, injury, or disability.

Earl and his wife, Ruth, reside in Bonterra within the Woodforest community.
